Munster - Lough Leane
Lough Leane
Co. Kerry
The Killarney Lakes, famous for their beauty, also provide free fishing for trout. Lough Leane is probablly the best and although fish are rather small. on a good day they may average over 1/2 lb. They are very free rising. Some large Ferox trout are taken from Lough Leane by trolling. All these lakes may be fished from a boat or from the shore. most of the mountain lakes in the vicinity of Killarney hold good numbers of small trout. One of them, Kilbrean lake, is managed by the inland Fisheries trust and holds some better fish. It is occassionally restocked with rainbows as well as brown trout.
