WRFB Report 19 June 2007

Most of the week was calm and humid, with thundery showers about. The easterly wind was not ideal for fishing but light conditions were good. There were hatches of sedges for the most part, and 39 anglers reported 27 trout in 67 rod-days. Dry fly and trolling was most successful, with a few fish also feeding on Daphnia.
Ms. P Gaynor from Tourmakedy hooked a fine trout weighing 10lbs 4oz on a Rapala on the western side of L. Mask. Mr. H Frashenuv from Belgium had 3 fish on wet flies for 7lbs, best 3lbs 8oz. Welsh angler Rob Griffin had 4 fish on the Rocky Shore, and
Ballinrobe local Noel Moran had 2 fish during the weekend on wet flies, best 1.75lbs.
Sedge fishing should improve over the next couple of weeks as hatches improve, with fish also feeding on perch fry and Daphnia.
