Connacht - Lough Mask - Latest Reports

Lough Mask - Friday, 5 January 2007

May 1st Report from Danny Goldrick Western Fisheries Board :

There were small hatches of chironomids and olives in a few bays over the week, with some mayfly seen as well. Weather conditions were too bright and sunny for most of the time to favour angling, although a good number of fish were caught. 23 anglers landed 35 trout in 29 rod-days, with fish to 4lbs reported. Wetfly and buzzer were the favoured methods, with chironomid patterns, sedges and olives most successful. A lot of anglers were reporting good fishing to buzzer in a few bays.
Greg O’Donoghue from Ballinrobe had 17 trout averaging 1.5lbs to buzzer, including 2 fish of 4lbs.Terry McGovern from Fermanagh had 3 trout for 3.5lbs in one day to wetfly, while Tim Hannon from Dublin had 2 for 2.5lbs, also to wetfly. Denis Kelleher from Ballinrobe landed 2 trout for 2.5lbs in one day to wetfly, and John Brennan from Longford had 4 trout for 4.5lbs to wetfly.
