Duckfly up on Lough Corrib
Monday, 31 March 2008
I fished on Thursday 27th March on Lough Corrib, near Corr na Mona. It was the first real break in the weather, and while there was still a chill in the air, conditions were quite good, with a reasonable westerly breeze. Good hatches of duckfly could be seen in pretty much all of the bays and lee of the islands, with fish rising sporadically throughout. I landed 5 trout and lost 1, all on light buzzers, fished a few feet under the surface.
This appears to be the full start of the duckfly and prospects for this week and next look promising.
Basil Shiels won the big two day competition out of Oughterard over the weekend, further details to follow.
